Military Delegation Acclaims Army’s Commitment to Community Welfare

A senior military delegation from Bangladesh National Defence College
headed by Brigadier General Humayun Bakht of the Bangladesh Army
visited Jaffna on Friday (01.10.2010) and met Commander Security
Forces Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe at Headquarters
SF-J in Palaly.
four senior officers from Armed Forces of different countries and
four senior administrative officers of Bangladesh Joint Secretariat
who are following the advanced military course (ndc) in Bangladesh
arrived in the island on 26th September on a study tour as a part
of their training.
the meeting with Commander SF-J who briefed them on the present
situation in Jaffna, foreign military delegation was keen in learning
about civil coordinating affairs being successfully conducted in
the post-conflict peninsula by the Army. Commitment of Sri Lankan
soldiers serving in Jaffna to build rapport with Jaffna community
and their indefatigable support to government’s development programme
for Jaffna was highly commended by the team members who expressed
their surprise of sudden change of fighting warriors into a benevolent
force dedicated to civilians’ welfare.
Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe and the members of the Bangladesh ndc team
exchanged mementos to mark their meeting in Jaffna before they left
Headquarters SF-J for the rest of the itinerary.
