[Updated :: 2010-10-01 16:45:40 Hours]

A senior military delegation from Bangladesh National Defence College headed by Brigadier General Humayun Bakht of the Bangladesh Army visited Jaffna on Friday (01.10.2010) and met Commander Security Forces Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe at Headquarters SF-J in Palaly.

Twenty four senior officers from Armed Forces of different countries and four senior administrative officers of Bangladesh Joint Secretariat who are following the advanced military course (ndc) in Bangladesh arrived in the island on 26th September on a study tour as a part of their training.

During the meeting with Commander SF-J who briefed them on the present situation in Jaffna, foreign military delegation was keen in learning about civil coordinating affairs being successfully conducted in the post-conflict peninsula by the Army. Commitment of Sri Lankan soldiers serving in Jaffna to build rapport with Jaffna community and their indefatigable support to government’s development programme for Jaffna was highly commended by the team members who expressed their surprise of sudden change of fighting warriors into a benevolent force dedicated to civilians’ welfare.

Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe and the members of the Bangladesh ndc team exchanged mementos to mark their meeting in Jaffna before they left Headquarters SF-J for the rest of the itinerary.
