US Investments to Boost Economic Development in Jaffna
[Updated :: 2010-10-10 14:45:32 Hours]

Widening avenues for economic expansion in Jaffna, Sri Lankan Air Line and Ceylon Tourist Board in collaboration with a team of renowned US investors will implement a high profile plan to improve tourism in the peninsula soon.

Motivated by dialogues they had with His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his New York visit to attend the UN General Assembly, those titans in the field of Hotel and Tourism Industry accompanied by Chairman Sri Lankan Air Mr. Nishantha Wickramasinghe visited Jaffna on Saturday (09.10.2010).

They first met Commander Security Forces Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe who presented an overall view about places of tourist significance and prevailing conducive environment for worthy investments in the tourism field within the peninsula.

Impressed after a brief but comprehensive visit to many places, members of the US team expressed extreme satisfaction about the peaceful situation and also stated they hope to start their projects to build hotels and other tourist facilities in attractive locations in islands and other places in Jaffna as soon as evaluation reports on preliminary studies are perused.

Commander SF-J assured fullest support of the Army to carry out all those activities.
