Another Set of Rehabilitated Ex-LTTE Members Freed

Twenty three female adults on completion of their vocational training under the government’s Rehabilitation Programme for ex-LTTE members were handed over to their relatives on Friday (22) at Thelippalai Protective Accommodation and Rehabilitation Centre (PARC) in Jaffna.

After proper legal proceedings, they were transferred to Thelippalai from Welfare Centres for IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) in Vavuniya and Kaithady for vocational training conducted by the Bureau of Commissioner General Rehabilitation (BCGR) with assistance of government and private institutions.

Those released beneficiaries mainly form PPD, Mathagal, Kyts and Atchuveli areas underwent training on Dress Making, Information Technology, Beauty Culture and Typing and Shorthand which will back their economy after reintegration.

Hon. Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Mr. DEW Gunasekara, Deputy Minister Vijithamuni Soyza, Commissioner General Rehabilitation Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe and relatives of released beneficiaries were present.
