Sinhala Language Class for School Leavers Commenced
[Updated :: 2010-11-22 13:02:59 Hours]

Under the Civil Military Coordination activities being conducted by Security Forces Headquarters-Jaffna (SF-J) for the benefit of Jaffna populace, a Sinhala language course for school leavers, government and private sector employees was started by the 51 Division from 6th November 2010.

The course was organized by the 513 Brigade in Manipay at the request of Tamil youths yearning to learn Sinhala which helps them to overcome the communication barrier with brother community. Necessity for learning Sinhala language has also arisen since they meet more friends at Universities here and in Colombo, to interact with people on trips to the north from the south and to be more close to security forces personnel committed to promote wellbeing of Jaffna civilians through various welfare activities.

Classes are conducted free of charge every Saturday from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. at Manipay Ladies’ College by Prof. S. Leelakrishnan (JP) of Jaffna, a renowned lecturer of Sinhala and English.

Certificates will be issued to all participants who show satisfactory performances at the end-of-course test.

The first course comprises 100 young men and women.
