Gandhi Jee, St. Peterís & United SCs Win the Cups

Final encounters of Inter Club matches organized by the 513 Brigade in Manipay were held whole day on 13th November at the Navali ground with attendance of a large crowd of sports lovers in the area.

In preliminary rounds of the tournaments held at Unit formation levels in 513 Brigade area from the 1st October included Cricket, Soccer and volleyball. Many young men belonging to 21 Sports Clubs showed their talents in the games organized by 23rd Battalion the Gemunu Watch, 14th Battalion (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard with assistance of sports officers and referees attached to respective Divisional Secretariats.

Final matches saw Gandhi Jee SC of Pandithirippu, St. Peterís SC of Navali and United SC of Alaveddi won the trophies for cricket, soccer and volleyball respectively. Trophies and certificates were given away by the Chief Guest Colonel Keerthi Costa, Commander 511 Brigade, and a few other distinguished guests.

Divisional Secretaries of Thelippalai and Chankanai, senior citizens in the area, senior Army officers and officials of Ceylon Biscuits, the main sponsor of the event were present on the occasion.
