Christmas Celebrations Begin in Jaffna

To celebrate oncoming Christmas 2010, 523 Brigade in Nunavil and 524 Brigade in Point Pedro organized Christmas Carols for Tamil Catholics residing in respective areas this week.

Choirs of Kadol Uyana Church in Negambo, Church of Nunavil and Church of Chavakachcheri sang Christmas songs while dancing teams of Nunavil Church and Kaithady Salvation Army presented performances on the occasion. During the function held at the church of American Mission at Nunavil on 15th December, Army distributed parcels of Christmas gifts among small children and school students.

Meanwhile, Carols organized by the 524 Brigade at Kaddaveli Methodist Church on 12th December was attended by a large crowd of Catholics and non Catholics in the area. One hundred students who were present received a donation of school items during the same function.

Catholic priests, Commanders of the two Brigades, Unit commanders and large crowds of civilians witnessed these religious events.
