Thousands of cricket fans and enthusiasts in Jaffna conveyed their best wishes to the Sri Lankan team taking part in the ICC World Cup 2011 when Sri Lankan cricketers reached Jaffna town on Tuesday (18.01.2011) with the ICC World Cup won by Sri Lanka in 1996.

The Cup was brought to the centre of the town in a procession preceded by the Western Band of St. Patrick College and placed for exhibition. Thousands of cricket fans including school children lined up to convey their best wishes to our team in the matches to be played for the ICC World Cup 2011 by placing signatures on the large replica of a ball.

General Officer Commanding 51 Division Major General Janaka Walgama, Brigadier General Staff Security Forces Jaffna Brig. B.C.J.A.F. Rodrigo and military officers placed their signatures.

The team will receive blessing of clergy at Sri Naga Vihara, the Bishop House and the Nallur Kandsawmi Hindu Temple tomorrow.
