prevailing health facilities at the Teaching Hospital Jaffna, construction
work for a new three-storied building commenced Friday (21.01.2011)
morning. The inauguration of construction work was attended by Hon
Minister of Health Mr. Maithripala Sirisena who cut the first clot
of sand using an earth moving machine at auspicious time.
has allocated Rs. 2877 million for this new complex which upgrades
the health facilities in the Teaching Hospital. A Japanese engineering
company JAICA (Japanese International Corporation Agency) with
assistance of local engineers has undertaken the construction
work of this new building comprising a laboratory, an emergency
unit, eight surgical units and a few internal administration departments.

Hospital Jaffna. Construction which commenced today is to be completed
of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Mr. Douglas Devananda,
Japanese Ambassador Mr. Kunio Takahashai, Governor Northern Province
Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri, Commander Security Forces
Headquarters Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Government
Agent Jaffna Mrs. Emelda Sukumar, Senior officials of the Health
Ministry, doctors and medical staff members were also present
on the occasion.
