of Jaffna Appreciates Speedy Action by Army to Curb Unlawful Occurrences

“Once again Law and Order has been restored and unlawful deeds have
lessened”, states Most Rev. Fr. Dr. Thomas Savundaranayagam, Bishop
Jaffna in a letter recently issued commending intensified security
measures adopted by Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) in the face
of organized petty crimes that disturbed civil life in some areas.
In the letter addressed to Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda
Hathurusinghe, the Bishop further comments that immediate actions
taken by the Army with Police assistance have brought in much good.
Full text of the letter is as follows;
Jaffna local newspaper “Uthayan” in its editorial on 15th February
2011 comments that decrease of killings and burglaries in the peninsula
has caused sigh of relief in Jaffna people.
The editorial states that information obtained from the arrested
suspects have revealed details of thefts and the persons involved.
It further highlights that it is a result of Army and Police combined
effort to ensure law and order in the peninsula.
The “Uthayan” also requests Security Forces and Police not to suspect
each and every youth passing by.
