Alert Troops Apprehend Abductors & Killers with Their White Van

Intensified security measures in effect in the Jaffna peninsula could arrest a “White Van” with the main suspect and his aides involved in abduction and a murder on Monday (07) in Chavakachcheri area.

Army troops serving in Chavakachcheri area, acting on information received about an abduction of a woman and a boy by a gang who came in a “White Van”, alerted all troops and Police serving in the area and within a couple of hours 523 Brigade soldiers could arrest the main suspect with some aides in Chavakachcheri area.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect identified as Selvathurai Kuhadhas, residing in Canada had arrived in Sri Lanka a few weeks ago with vicious motive of killing his divorced wife Kuhadhas Shanthini (38) and abducting his son Kuhadhas Ruban (15), who were living in Meesalai East, Jaffna.

For the orchestrated crime, the suspect had hired a “White Van” (253-3852) from Wellawatta area in Colombo capitalizing the so-called “White Van” concept wide-spread by some interested parties to create a fear psychosis in people and to disgrace the Security Forces and the government of false allegations. According to information revealed, two gangsters had joined en route to assists the suspect in executing the malicious mission.

Information confirmed that Shanthini was severely assaulted after abduction and was dragged into an isolated place by the suspects before choking her to death. Later, her dead body was found by the troops lying disfigured in the scene of crime.

Further interrogations helped the troops locate and save the 15 year old boy and apprehend the van with its driver identified as Raja and another woman aide.

Search operations are now on to net the other two culprits evading arrest.
