Welfare Projects Extended to Jaffna Islands

Pleased with community welfare projects being conducted for Jaffna
civilians by Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna (SF-J), a young
kind-hearted engineer has agreed to extend his hand of generosity
donating bundles of cloths to the Army to be distributed among poor
students for school uniforms.
Mr. S. Kirubanandan, the Director of Seagull Residencies (Pvt) Ltd.,
Colombo Saturday (25) handed over the donation to Commander SF-J
Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe at Headquarters SF-J in Palaly.
Sri Lanka Army, after taking over the Kayts island found that a
large number of families with low-living standard need assistance
to lead a normal life. With intention of giving helping hand to
them, on suggestion of Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Headquarters
SF-J decided to extend its current education development project
to Kayts by helping students in all possible ways.
Following a brief discussion in this regard, Mr. Kirubanandan, an
old pupil of Kokuvil Hindu College, willingly came forward to buy
uniforms for 308 students at Nainathivu Nagapusani Amman school,
Kayts Om Kumban primary school and Velanai northeast Maha Vidyalaya.
Receiving the donation, Commander SF-J, on behalf of the Sri Lanka
Army conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the donor for joining hands
with Army to help poor people in Jaffna.
Kirubanandan agreed to pay tailoring charges for all 308 students
and sewing is expected to be completed within two weeks.
