Sharing the ecstasy of indigenous music of their own countries, artists of six countries including Sri Lanka gathered in Jaffna to present their showpieces at three-day grand musical fiesta of the year “Jaffna Music Festival 2011” at Jaffna Municipal Ground.

Inauguration ceremony of this mega classic show organized by Sewa Lanka Foundation and Royal Norwegian Embassy in association with USAID and Concerts Norway was held Friday (25) morning with participation of Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Her Excellency Hilde Haraldstad, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and a host of distinguished guests.

Musicians and singers of Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Palestine, South Africa and Norway present their items with gusto for three days, day and night. More than 20 folk music groups from Sri Lanka are taking part in the festival displaying music and dancing traditions in up country, low country and Jaffna.

This is the first experience in Jaffna that such a cosmopolitan group performs on one stage. Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation provides media coverage.
