& RMAO-Jaffna Organize Mine Risk Education Programme for the

Subsequent to the International Mine Action Day that fell on 4th
of April, a two day mine risk education programme was organized
by the Regional Mine Action Office (RMAO) Jaffna in collaboration
with Sri Lanka Army on 20th and 21st of April at Jaffna Hindu College.
The workshop included a variety of programmes such as lectures,
discussions, dramas and exhibitions to give a comprehensive knowledge
on mine risks to schoolchildren, teachers and a section of civilians.
The demonstration presented by mine detection dogs of the Sri Lanka
Army impressed all who attended the programme.
A friendly cricket match between the teams of Danish De-mining Group
(DDG), Halo Trust, RMAO-Jaffna, UNICEF and the Army culminated the
Religious leaders, Commander 512 Brigade Colonel Ajith Pallawala
and Commanding Officer 1 Field Engineers Regiment Lieutenant Colonel
Sarath Dissanayake represented the Security Forces Headquarters
– Jaffna. Senior appointment holders of DDG, Halo Trust, RMAO-Jaffna
and UNICEF were present at the programme.
