Soldiers Trounce Police at Holcim FA Cup Semi Finals

Sri Lanka Army football players in a triumphant game played on Saturday (11) recorded a stunning victory of 5 - 0 against the Police team qualifying themselves for the Holcim FA Cup Finals.

The encounter was held at St. Johnís College ground in Jaffna with attendance of a large crowd including Army and Police personnel and football fans.

The first goal was recorded by the captain of the Army team Corporal Lasantha Kumara at the sixth minute. Madhusanka Silva, Izadeen and Fazal joined the captain to get the remaining four goals leading the soldiers to victory. Izadeen took the third and fourth goals. At the final whistle the scoreboard displayed 5 Ė 0 declaring soldiers the winners at the Holcim FA Cup Semi Finals.

Wining Army team will meet the winners of the next semi finals to be played between Civil Defence Force and the Negombo Don Bosco at Uyanwatta playground in Matara on 16th June.
