Commander Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) immediately after his arrival from Colombo met the Hon. Parliamentarians and said that alleged assault on two personal security officers of Parliamentarians is vehemently condemned.

“The government has created an environment where anyone can engage in politics in democratic way and being the Jaffna Commander I am really concerned about the incident that has taken place,” Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe said to MPs.

“Police and Army are conducting separate investigations into the alleged attack and all possible actions against the culprits will be taken with findings of the investigations,” Jaffna Commander assured.

Responding to it Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe promised that he would ensure maximum security for their election campaigns. “I am ready to give whatever the required assistance to the Police to continue with your campaign for the oncoming local government election if requested,” Commander said.

Parliamentarians expressed their pleasure about the meeting arranged to iron out any differences and doubts between the security forces and TNA MPs.
