Students Leave Memories of Brotherhood with Mathagal Students

Students of St. Joseph’s College, Mathagal recently had a memorable
day with their counterparts of Swarnajayanthi Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle
who were here on two day goodwill visit.
Having identified needs of their friends studying at Mathagal St.
Joseph’s College, Kegalle Swarnajayanthi boys and girls guided by
their teachers donated a stock of school items and sports ware to
St. Joseph’s College and its students. A special function was held
in this regard at school main hall on Monday (11).
Teachers and students from Kegalle Swarnajayanthi received a warm
welcome on their arrival in St. Joseph’s College. An attractive
cultural show during which students of both schools presented performances
specific to their areas added colour to the main event of handing
During informal session that followed, students of both schools
had friendly chats, sang and danced together implying that interests
of children are the same even if they are in the North or the South.
The visit was organized by the 515 Brigade of Security Forces Headquarters
- Jaffna (SF-J). Accommodation and meals for teachers and students
of Kegalle Swarnajayanthi were arranged by the 515 Brigade.
General Officer Commanding 51 Division Major General Janaka Walgama
graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Commander 515 Brigade Brig.
Buvaneka Randeniya and senior officers of the SF-J and Education
Department of Jaffna and Kegalle were present.
