President Hands Over New Houses to Keeramalai Resettled Families
[Updated :: 2011-07-19 16:00:15 Hours]

Ten houses built by Army personnel for newly resettled families at Keeramalai were handed over to respective recipients by His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Tuesday (19).

Later, Hon President inspected those houses walking in and around the houses. He also went into the old houses finished using cadjan and tin sheets, and spoke to people who were resettled a few weeks ago. The area earlier came under the High Security Zone (HSZ) and those lands were handed back to their original owners as the shrinking of HSZ got underway.

Those houses at Keeramalai were constructed under the 100 houses project of the government for newly resettled families in Jaffna.

Soldiers serving in Jaffna completed a strenuous task of constructing 100 houses within 10 days in various parts of the peninsula. The Northern Province Governorís Office provided financial assistance for all the houses.
