Annual Festival of Mavaddipuram Hindu Temple Culminates

Annual Festival of Mavaddipuram Sri Skandha Hindu Temple that was held for 24 days culminated on Saturday (30) with Water Cutting ceremony at the Keeramalai beach with participation of hundreds of devotees.

Hindus from various parts of the country daily attended the poojas in large number since the 6th of July, the first day. Famous cart festival was held on the 26th. Main Pooja on the same day (26) was hosted by the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SF-J) in the evening. Commander 513 Brigade Brig. Buvaneka Randeniya, Brigadier Admin & Quartering SF-J Colonel R. Shanmuganathan, officers and other ranks serving under the SF-J attended the function to receive the blessing of God Skandha.

Annual festival of this famous Hindu temple was continuously conducted when it was within the High Security Zone too. This is the first time the temple had its festival after the area was released from the High Security Zone a few months ago.
