August school vacation has this year too filled the places of religious and tourist importance in Jaffna with visitors as in the previous year. Thousands of southerners who chose Jaffna as their holiday destination are daily making their entry to the peninsula via the Elephant Pass (EPS) causeway in hundreds.

The number of visitors who crossed the EPS since the commencement of August school vacation exceeded 140,000 by the 19th evening, records at EPS entry / exit point revealed.

Nagadeepa, old Dutch fort, Naguleshwaram temple, Keeramalai ponds, Naga Vihara, Point Pedro and Nallur temple are among the places that most people wish to visit. They get a chance to attend special Poojas at Nallur temple since its annual celebrations are now on.

Education authorities further say that students of Jaffna schools are also these days out on visits to places in the South.
