Training Certificates Awarded to Soldiers Who Build Houses for Jaffna

soldiers serving in Jaffna who successfully completed a masonry
course conducted by NAITA (National Apprenticeship and Industrial
Training Authority) received their certificates last Tuesday (25)
from the Commander Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) Major General
Mahinda Hathurusinghe at a brief ceremony held at SF-J gymnasium
They belonged to the first batch of soldiers who were professionally
trained in masonry by NAITA for the first time. Training course
arranged by the Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office Jaffna
on directives of Commander SF-J started on 09 July 2010 and ended
on 28th October 2010.
“Holcim” Cement Corperation cooperated with NAITA to conduct this
National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 course which enabled
the soldiers selected from different battalions attached to the
SF-J to easily find job opportunities even in foreign countries
if necessary after thier retirement from the service.
Commander SF-J during his address congratulated all certificate
holders and appreciated their contribution towards government’s
development projects and Army-initiated housing projects in Jaffna.
NAITA masonry training enabled those 40 soldiers to share the responsibility
of constructing a two-storied building at Kopay Navalar School donated
by the Uva Provincial Council, a three-storied building at Thelippalai
Mahajana College donated by the Secretary Defence and a large number
of houses for civilians in different areas with soldiers of Corps
of Engineer Services.
