In a special festival organized in the Jaffna city, Headquarters Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) joined Jaffna Hindus to celebrate “Deepavali” festival on Wednesday (26) evening.

Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe along with Government Agent Jaffna Mrs. Emelda Sukumar, Mayoress Jaffna Mrs. Y. Pathgunarasa and a host of distinguished guests ceremoniously lit the oil lamps on the Hospital road.

At the same time, all main streets in the city were lit with coconut oil lamps and electric bulbs illuminating the whole area amidst drizzle. Soldiers serving in different parts of the peninsula joined the civilians in respective areas to light up the streets and the surroundings in the evening.

Security Forces – Jaffna last year too celebrated “Deepaval” illuminating the city with oil lamps.
