[Updated :: 2011-11-07 12:55:30 Hours]

A disable widow mother with five children who was living in a shanty-type small hut has started a new life under a new permanent shelter donated by Army troops serving at Ariyalai.

Mrs. Sivakumar Ranjithamalar of Anantha Vadil road, Ariyalai explained the officers at the Civil Affairs Office of 512 Brigade about her miserable life spending in the old house with five children whose father died in a heart attack some time back.

Having considered her situation, soldiers of the 7th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment (7 GR) built this house for this courageous widow within a short period and handed it over to her on Thursday (03).

She who turned disable in 1996 due to war is feeding three children who are learning at Grade8, 6 and 4, and two more attending pre-schools.

Officers and other ranks serving under the 51 Division attended a brief function organized to hand over the house to Mrs. Sivakumar Ranjithamalar.
