Headquarters Contributes to “Deyata Sevana” National Tree Planting

the “Deyata Sevana” National Tree Plantating programme, Security
Forces Headquarters – Jaffna (SF-J) launched a tree planting project
at Palaly on Tuesday (15). Senior officers and all ranks serving
at Palaly participated in the tree planting campaign organized at
the Palaly camp area on Tuesday morning.
This national project aims at sustainable development enunciated
in the “Mahinda Chinthana” Extended Version and it also marks the
birthday of His Excellency the President and the second anniversary
of his accession to the Presidency for the successive second term.
As in 2010, the government this year too has planned to plant 1.1
million trees island wide. The national ceremony in this effect
took place near the Diyavanna Oya at Battaramulla, Colombo on Tuesday.
Headquarters SF-J today planted 200 coconut plants, 50 jack plants
and 300 mango plants in Palaly camp area. According to the office
of the Government Agent Jaffna, 18000 plants of various types will
be panted in the Jaffna peninsula under the "Deyata Sevana"
In the first stage of this national programme last year, Headquarters
SF-J planted 600 coconut plants at Palaly under the “Deyata Sewana”.
