Organizes Seminars for O/L Candidates

education seminar of the year got under way at three centres on
Saturday (19) to prepare the GCE O/L school candidates for their
examination in December under the guidance of Security Forces Headquarters
– Jaffna in liaison with Provincial Education Officials.
Civil Affairs Office of the 511 Brigade with coordination of Jaffna
Education Department organized full day sessions for Jaffna students
to revise mathematics and science, the subjects which many candidates
fail to score higher marks as a whole.
Nearly 1600 students from 27 schools in the 511 Brigade area attended
the seminars conducted by experienced teachers at Puttur Sri Somaskantha
Vidyalaya, Kopay Christian Vidyalaya and Urumpirai Hindu Vidyalaya
under the supervision of senior education officials of the Departmenet.
The inauguration ceremony of this programme organized at Puttur
Sri Somaskantha Vidyalaya under the Civil Military Coordination
(CIMIC) project initiated by Headquarters Security Forces – Jaffna
(SF-J) was attended by Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe,
Deputy Director of Education Northern Province Mr. R. Skantharaja,
Deputy Director Kopay Mr. S. Sathgunaraja, Divisional Secretary
Kopay Mr. M. Pratheepan, Assistant Director of Education (Sinhala)
Northern Province Mrs. S. Kapukotuwa and a host of senior Army officers
of the 51 Division.
At the inauguration of the seminar Commander SF-J addressing the
participants said that Army is taking such an interest in these
affairs to revive Jaffna’s education with intension of seeing that
more and more professionals and intellectuals are produced from
Jaffna to serve the motherland.
Meals and refreshments were provided to all students by the Army.
