“Sri
Lanka Habitat” Supports SF-J to Build Houses for Jaffna Civilians

Five more permanent
houses Constructed by the Sri Lanka Army with financial assistance
of the “Sri Lanka Habitat” was handed over to five needy families
by the 52 Division of Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) on Monday
(19).
Those families with low income were selected from Thenmarachchi
area and constructions were completed by the 52 Division troops
within three months. Building materials to the value of about Rs.
225000/= for each house were provided by the “Sri Lanka Habitat”
in recognition of Army’s humanitarian assistance to Jaffna people.
During the ceremony held to hand over the houses to their recipients
at Thenmarachchi, a set of furniture, a pack of dry ration and some
domestic items were distributed by the Army among the recipients.
General Officer Commanding 52 Division Brigadier Anura Suadhasinghe
graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Brigade Commanders, Commanding
Officers, community leaders and civilians of the area were present
on the occasion. Invited Guests planted ten coconut plants in the
premises of new houses.
Troops of the 52 Division, with assistance of “Sri Lanka Habitat”
in October this year too built five houses for civilians in Vadamarachchi
area.
