With the aim
of preserving ancient glory of Jaffna for generations to come, Security
Forces Headquarters – Jaffna has joined hands with government organizations
to restructure places of historical importance in Jaffna.
In one such endeavour, Jaffna troops are contributing their labour
to clean the moat around the Jaffna Fort and renovate its outer
rampart. The project is being conducted by the Urban Development
Authority (UDA), Road Development Authority (RDA) and Archaeological
Department.
On directives of Commander Security Forces – Jaffna Major General
Mahinda Hathurusinghe, over 100 soldiers are working daily on the
project.
Apart from the moat and outer rampart, soldiers are clearing the
surrounding areas before proposed landscaping begins.
Representing the Headquarters Security Forces – Jaffna, General
Officer Commanding 51 Division Brig. Piyal Wickrmaratne coordinates
with relevant government agencies.
