Crowd Attends Hanuman Temple Festival

Famous Hanuman
Temple in Marathanamadam had a grand festival on Saturday (24) morning
with attendance of thousands of devotees paying homage to deity
Hanuman.
The temple organizes this annual function to celebrate the birthday
of Hanuman which falls on 25th December, as legends read. This year’s
religious observances that commenced on 13th December will culminate
tomorrow with the anointing the deity with holy water or Abhishekam.
The Pooja today marked the chariot festival or Ther.
Commander Security Forces – (Jaffna) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe
attended the Saturday’s Ther festival as the Chief Guest. The Pooja
was conducted by Rev. E. Sunthareshvara Kurukkal.
This Hindu Kovil was started in 2001, according to a priest
who further said that before the Kovil was erected, followers
of Hanuman used to worship their deity within their homes. Since
its inception, this temple is drawing a massive crowd annually.
