Apart from the
main ceremony organized by the 52 Division at Chavakachcheri Sunday
(15) morning to celebrate Thai Pongal, 521 Brigade of Point
Pedro held a colourful cultural show at Sri Vartharaja Vinayagar
Kovil, Malai Santhi at Nelliady the same day evening.
A Thai pongal cultural
spectacular was presented by Sri Lanka Army cultural troupe, students
of J / Uduppiddy American Mission Girls’ College and J / Alvai
Sinnathambi School.
A large crowd of civilians
in Nelliady, Point Pedro, Manthikai and other surrounding areas
gathered to the kovil premises to witness this Army-civil combined
cultural show.
All those who contributed
to the cultural show were awarded by the General Officer Commanding
52 Division Brigadier Anura Sudhasinghe and other invited guests.
Sellamutthu Textile,
Yarl Beach Hotel and Nelliady Traders’ Association sponsored gifts
while Inthiran Electricals of Point Pedro, Nada Electricals of
Alvai and Ranjan Photos of Manthikai assisted the 521 Brigade
in organizing a successful show.
