“Students in
Jaffna area usually dedicated to learning. I know most of them go
to classes early in the morning before going to schools. That dedication
and determination brought success to them and helped them achieves
best results in the examination,” said Commander Security Forces
– Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe addressing a gathering
of students, teachers and distinguished guests present on the occasion
of felicitating students who got higher aggregate in 2011 G.C.E.
A/L Examination.
Security
Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SF-J) in association with Kokuvil-based
Kavaloor Jeganathan Foundation awarded such twelve budding scholars
with valuable prizes appreciating their success in G.C.E. A / L
Examination 2011. The ceremony to felicitate them was held at the
J / Kokuvil Hindu College auditorium on Friday (20) afternoon with
participation of Commander SF – Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe
as Chief Guest, Government Agent Jaffna Mrs. Emelda Sukumar, Chairman
Kavaloor Jeganathan Foundation Mr. S.S. Kuhanathan and a host of
distinguished guests and gathering of students and teachers.
A
large number of hardworking Jaffna A / Level students this year
scored higher marks qualifying to enter the university. Among them
is Kamalakannan Kamalavasan of Uduppiddy American Mission College
who scored the island’s highest aggregate in Mathematics stream.
Anantharaja Sanjeyan of Jaffna St. Joseph’s College who sat the
examination last year in Bio-Science stream became the second in
the island.
Including those two students, Civil Affairs and Public Relations
office and the Kavaloor Jeganathan Foundation awarded twelve students,
three from each stream with highest performances at district level.
Each student was presented with a voice recorder worth of Rs. 6000/-
to be used during lectures when they start their university education.
Meanwhile,
special scholarship system was launched for four university qualified
students who are from families with low economical background. Each
of them will be getting Rs. 1000/- monthly until they complete their
higher education.

Kumaravel Nirubiga of Vembady Girl’s High School (1st Place in Jaffna
from Commerce Stream)
e.
Sivagnanachelvam Yoginee of Methodist Girl’s High School Point Pedro
(2nd Place in Jaffna from Bio-Science Stream)
f.
Krishnakumar Thanirojan of Uduppiddy American Mission College (2nd
Place in Jaffna from Mathematics Stream)
g.
K. Sanjeewan of Meesalai Weerasingham Maha Vidyalam (2nd Place in
Jaffna from Arts Stream)
h.
Selvavinayaham Kokila of Vadamarachchi Hindu Girl’s College (2nd
Place in Jaffna from Commerce Stream)

Niththiyananthan Vahinee of Vembady Girl’s High School (3rd Place
in Jaffna from Bio-Science Stream).

in Jaffna from Commerce Stream)
Scholarships
were given to Kokila Selavanayakam of Vadamarachchi Hindu Girl’s
College, Araamuthan Sivajini Jaffna Kanagarathnam Maha Vidyalaya,
Kathiragama Sanjeewan Meesalai Weerasingham Maha Vidyalaya and Jeyeseelan
Mathanki of Valvettithurai Sithambara College.
A stock of books was donated to J/ Kokuvil Hindu College on the
same occasion.
