team of foreign Defence Advisors and Military attachés serving
in Diplomatic missions in Sri Lanka arrived in Jaffna on a two day
fact-finding tour on Tuesday (22).
The visiting delegation comprising Defence Advisor of the Bangladesh
High Commission Commodore Mudasser Nasir, Military Attaché
of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Lieutenant Colonel
Khorram Lajevardi, Military, Air and Naval Attaché of the
Embassy of the Russian Federation Captain (Navy) Igore Pavlov and
Assistant Military, Air and Naval Attaché of the Embassy
of the Russian Federation Lieutenant Colonel Yury A Drozdov met
the Commander Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda
Hathurusinghe and senior Army officers at Palaly on Tuesday morning.
General Staff of the SF-J Brig. Sumith Atapattu briefed them on
the present security situation in Jaffna. He further explained
about the facilities made available by the Headquarters SF-J for
livelihood activities of reintegrated ex-LTTE combatants with
assistance of the government. Further, he explained about the
crab farming project launched by this Headquarters to create self
employment for reintegrated ex-LTTE combatants assisted by the
Army troops in the Kayts island.
they visited the Nagadeepa Temple and the Delft island. The following
day, the delegation toured in the Jaffna town to get first hand
experience about the day-to-day life of civilians and development
work in progress in Jaffna. The team also visited the Nallur Temple,
Sri Naga Vihara, Public Library and Jaffna Fort.
