Paying
gratitude to ever remembering heroes of our era, who sacrificed
their days in the battle field to make our future safe, brother
soldiers serving in Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) made another
financial contribution to “Brave Hearts” project, solely meant for
enhancing welfare measures of War Heroes and their families.
Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, on behalf of
all officers and other ranks of the SF-J, handed over the cheque
of Rs. 5,000,000/= (5 million) to Commander of the Army Lieutenant
General Jagath Jayasuriya at the “Thalsevana" Holiday Resort
on Friday (23) evening in the presence of a host of senior officers.
“Brave Hearts” project was initiated by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch
on a concept of Commander of the Army. The Abhimansala Wellness
Resort in Anuradhapura was constructed to look after permanently
disable soldiers for their life time under the “Brave Hearts” project.
Commander and all ranks of the SF-J have hitherto contributed a
sum of Rs. 11 million for the welfare of injured soldiers and also
the families of soldiers killed in war. Earlier, Rs 2 million to
“Api Wenuwen Api” War Hero housing project mooted by Defence
Secretary, Rs. 2 million to “ranaviru doo daru fund"
for scholarships to children of War Heroes initiated by Mrs. Ioma
Rajapaksa, wife of Defence Secretary and Rs. 2 million to “Brave
Hearts” were given on three different occasions. The latest contribution
will help expedite the construction of the Abhimansala II in
Matara.
Lt. Gen. Jayasuriya extending his profuse thanks to Commander SF-J
for the donation stated that it is our duty to ensure the welfare
of soldiers injured in the war, and also the families of those who
laid their lives in the noble mission of eliminating terrorism entirely
from the Sri Lankan soil.
