To improve the health and nutrition of children form low income families in Mirusuvil area, troops of 522 Brigade distributed 12193 packs of milk powder among children from 431 families. Each child between the age of 1 and 3 years was given 3 powdered milk packets. The donation to the value of Rs. 646500/= was sponsored by Nestle Lanka Company Ltd. at Army’s request. Mr. Sajeewa Wickramasinghe of Nestle Lanka Company Ltd. coordinated the donation.

A function to distribute milk powder had been organized on 11th of April at J / Varani Maha Vidyalaya with attendance of Brigadier Athula Silva, Commander 522 Brigade as Chief Guest. The principal of Varani Maha Vidyalaya Mr. N. Mangeshvaran, Technical Officer of Jaffna University Mr. A.N. Vishvalingam, Justice of Peace Mr. S.N. Navarathnam and senior officers of the 522 Brigade also attended the function.
