Nearly
100,000 people enjoyed the Wesak decorations in Jaffna city as
the second day of the “Wesak Zone” organized by the Security Forces
- Jaffna (SF-J) was open for public on Sunday (06) evening.
On invitation
of Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Hon. Minister
of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Mr. Douglas Devananda
declared open the “Wesak Zone” for the second day switching on
illuminations.
Having visited
attractive decorations created by Jaffna soldiers for people in
Jaffna and also for visitors from the South, Hon. Minister, as
Chief Guest had his dinner with the SF-J Commander, Mayoress Jaffna
Mrs. Yogeswari Pathgunrasa and others at the Dansala
organized by the 55 Division.
Later,
they listened to Bhakthi Gee (Devotional Songs) sung
by students of Jaffna schools, members of the Sri Lanka Army and
Police.
Due to large
crowds visiting the “Wesak Zone” which was scheduled to end on
6th of May, was extended up to 8th of May.
