The
551 Brigade, a couple of days after they organized a Mine Risk
Education programme for school teachers and students in the area,
sponsored a blood donation campaign on 20th May at Thalayady Roman
Catholic Tamil Mixed school.
Nearly 225
soldiers serving in the Brigade area donated blood to the mobile
blood bank on that day. A number of civilians joined the soldiers
in the blood donation campaign.
Dr. Sri Ram
and K.T.R. Pratheepan and 7 members of the Jaffna teaching hospital
medical staff cooperated with the Army to conduct a successful
programme.
