Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe
said that military is gradually reducing its presence in Jaffna
and being replaced by the Police since the civil administration
has been established in Jaffna.
revealed this during his meeting with the Australian High Commissioner
Her Excellency Ms Robyn Mudie who was on a visit to Jaffna with
two other officials on Monday (28) morning.

Hathurusinghe explained the Aussie diplomatic delegation about
livelihood activities initiated by the Headquarters SF-J for reintegrated
ex-LTTE combatants in different areas of the peninsula.
Jaffna has already handed over majority of the civilians’ houses
and lands to legitimate owners, and will continue to do so considering
the security situation,” Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe told Her Excellency
said that Sri Lankans suffered a lot due to war during last three
decades and majority of people do not want to experience the same
agony they underwent again.
High Commissioner appreciated the Army’s effort taken to upgrade
the life of Jaffna populace.
