School Soccer Tournament 2012 organized by the 521 Brigade at Point
Pedro for schools in Vadamarachchi Education Zone saw its culmination
with the finals played at J/Nelliady Central College on Thursday
(31). Twenty eight teams of twenty three schools participated in
the tournament organized under two categories, under 17 and under
19. Preliminary rounds of the matches started on 22nd March at Potpathy
public ground, Point Pedro Hartley College and Nelliady Central
College. Point Pedro Hartley College and Uduppiddy American Mission
College were qualified for under 19 finals while Nelliady Central
College and Imeyanam Vidyalaya vied for the under 17 Cup.
Hartley College
and Nelliady Central College became the winners of Vadamarachchi
Inter School Soccer Tournament 2012 respectively under 19 and
17.
Valuable prizes
were given to the winning teams, runners up and players who performed
well during the tournament.
