100 students of J/Navatkuli Sakalakalavallavan Vidyalaya, J/Navatkuli
Maha Vidyalaya and J/Kovilakkandy Government Tamil Mixed School
in the 523 Brigade area added an unforgettable day to their school
life when they were taken to the upcountry on an education trip
by the Army last week.
trip organized by the 18th Battalion the Gemunu Watch (18 GW)
of Thanankilappu offered the students a golden opportunity to
see many historical and beautiful places in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya
and to have interaction with children in those areas.
Dambulla and Mihinthale rock temples, historical sites of Mathale,
Temple of the Tooth and Botanical Garden in Kandy, University
of Peradeniya, Victoria and Randenigala Mahaveli Reservoirs and
power stations, Mailapitiya War Memorial, Hakgala Garden, Seeta
Eliya famous Seethai Amman Kovil, St Clair, Ramboda and Devon
waterfalls, Anuradhapura Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweliseya during
their four day trip that started on 29th May.
Officer of 18 GW Lieutenant Colonel Sampath Bulathgama and his
officers had arranged accommodation and meals to students, parents
and teachers on the trip for all four days. Soldiers gave a detailed
description to students about all the places they visited.
A group of teachers and parents also joined the trip.
