Brigade
Headquarters serving under the 52 Division in Varani organized Dansal
in their respective areas on Poson Full Moon day (04) commemorating
the arrival of Arhath Mahinda from India.
Headquarters
52 Division with auspices of its General Officer Commanding Brigadier
Anura Sudhasinghe organized a rice and noodles Dansala
for the villagers and other civilians travelling on the Kodikamam-Point
Pedro road.
The same day,
521 Brigade of Point Pedro (PPD) with collaboration of the business
community in the area organized a rice Dansala to treat
thousands of civilians with delicious lunch. Nearly 3000 civilians
from neighbouring villages and visitors from the south enjoyed
lunch at the Dansala.The Brigade organized this for the
third consecutive year near the PPD bus stand with assistance
of the troops of the 16th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment
and the 19th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
Commander
521 Brigade Lieutenant Colonel Tikiri Dissanayake, senior officers
of the Brigade coordinated with community leaders of the area
in organizing the Dansala.
Meanwhile,
the 522 Brigade of Mirusuvil commanded by Brigadier Athula Silva
organized a rice Dansala at Kodikamam. A large crowd
of civilians including Poson pilgrims from the South
were treated at the Dansala. Troops of the 10th Gemunu
Watch, 15th Gajaba Regiment and 10th Sri Lanka National Guard
cooperated with the Brigade to organize this.
At the same
time, troops of the 18th Gemunu Watch and 7th Vijayabahu Infantry
Regiment with guidance of the 523 Brigade at Nunavil organized
a cool drink Dansala.
Commander
523 Brigade Colonel Channa Weerasooriya and senior officers of
the Brigade were present.
