[2012-07-16 11:55:25]

Annual festival of historical Mavaddipuram Skandha Temple in Kankesanthurai is being held these days. Hundreds of devotees daily attend the Pooja. Visitors from the South also stop at this famous Hindu temple to pay their reverence to God Skandha.

Every year, troops of the 515 Brigade of Kankesanthurai clean the Kovil site and the surrounding before the festival commences. The Pooja on the 15th July this year was organized by the Army. Alms giving (lunch) was organized by the Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) for all devotees who were present at the Pooja. Senior Officers, officers and other ranks serving in Jaffna attended the Pooja to get blessings of the deity to which the Temple is dedicated.

The festival that commenced on 24th of June will culminate on the 18th of July with Water Cutting at Keeramalai sea.
