The 51 Division of the Sri Lanka Army established in Kopay celebrated
its 17th anniversary with a series of events giving priority to
religious performances. Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islam rituals
were held respectively at Jaffna Sri Naga Vihara, Marathanamadam
Hanuman Temple, Atchuvely St. Mary’s church and Navanthurai Jumma
mosque.
On the 16th
August, 215 male and female soldiers donated blood to the Jaffna
Teaching Hospital blood bank to save the lives of patients in
critical condition. Dr. G. Karthy and Dr. Ms V. Sharmali extended
their support to the blood donation campaign.
Sports competitions,
shramadana campaigns and all ranks lunch were among the events
that followed.
On the 19th
evening, a mega musical show was organized at the Division Headquarters
attended by Commander Security Forces -Jaffna (SF-J) Major General
Mahinda Hathurusinghe, General Officer Commanding 51 Division
Brigadier Piyal Wickramarathne, senior officers, officers and
other ranks of the SF-J.
