7 VIR Soldiers Visit Kaithdy Orphanage with gifts

Thirty small children including some infants being looked after at the State Receiving Home, Kaithady received a stock of essentials as a donation from the Army on Friday (21).

The donation which included mosquito nets, mats, thermo flasks, water heaters, feeding sets, baby soap, powder, toothpaste, milk powder, cups and toys, etc. to the worth of Rs. 75000/= was organized by the troops of 7th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (7 VIR) supported by donors.

Almost all inmates at this Children’s Home run by the Department of Probation and Child Care Services have not been fortunate enough to get the affection of parents or any other guardian of their own.

The items were handed over to those children by the General Officer Commanding 52 Division, Brigadier Anura Sudhasinghe, Civil Affairs Officer 52 Division Colonel L.B.D.H.S Lakshman, Commanding Officers 7 VIR Lieutenant Colonel W.M.N.K.D Bandara and other senior officers at this orphanage in the presence of Matron, Kaithady Children’s Home Ms Vasuni Subhakaran, Commissioner Department of Probation and Child Care Services Mr Vishwa Ruban.

Troops of the 7th VIR also offered lunch for all at Kaithady State Receiving Home.
