His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa blamed Jaffna Parliamentary Representatives and Civil Administration for not educating him on difficulties and hardships faced by people in Jaffna. Addressing a forum of Ministers, Members of Parliament, Secretaries, Civil Administrative Officials and Heads of Government Departments attending a District Development Committee (DDC) meeting held at Tilko Hotel on Tuesday, February 12th, Hon. Hon President on his way back from Chunnakam where he commissioned a new power plant erected to enhance the present supply capacity to the peninsula got down his vehicle and met some farmers working in their fields on Tuesday.

Hon. President who pointed out that many government constructions in Jaffna are seen limited only to foundation stones asked the relevant officials for explanation for the delay. He further instructed to extend development projects, presently in place in the Jaffna city and suburbs, to remote areas for the benefit of rural communities. Hon Minister of Economic Development Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, Hon. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Mr. Douglas Devanantha, Hon. Governor Northern Province Maj. Gen. Equalizing medical facilities to that of Colombo and elsewhere in the country, a fully-fledged three-storied building was declared open by His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Jaffna Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, 13th February. His Excellency the President vested the new facility in Jaffna medical authorities on Wednesday in a grand ceremony followed by a public meeting held at the hospital premises with attendance of a massive crowd. The newly opened facility expedites operation procedures and medical tests to be conducted at Jaffna Hospital.
