Dhammadeepa Foundation Donates Rs. 1 million Worth School Items to Two Jaffna Schools

Revitalizing age old communal and religious affiliation that prevailed between the North and the South, Maharagama Dhammadeepa Foundation donated a stock of furniture, musical instruments, photocopy machines and electrical and computer items to two schools in Jaffna last week.

A team of representatives from the Dhammadeepa Foundation comprising Ven. Trikunamalaye Ananada thero, Ven. Palalle Chandakitty thero and four other Buddhist monks and 80 members participated in the event of handing over the donation coordinated by the 521 Brigade of Point Pedro on 29th April.

During the same function organized to hand over the donation worth over Rs. 1 million to Rajakamam Sri Narada Vidyalaya of Karaveddy and Panchaseela Vidyalaya of Puttur, students were also given schoolbags and other items needed for their education by the Dharmadeepa Foundation.

In addition, with financial assistance of the foundation a playground was constructed for Narada Vidyalaya and its all buildings were renovated by the soldiers of 19th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. Required machineries and other resources were provided by the Army on directives of Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe.

Construction work and the donation were coordinated by Commander 521 Brigade Colonel Tikiri Dissanayake under supervision of General Officer Commanding 52 Division Brigadier Anura Sudhasinghe.

Rajakamam Narada Vidyalaya was started by Ven. Sri Narada thero in 1966 as a kindergarten and now it has classes from grade 01 to grade 11.

Rev. Fr. Vincent of Panchseela Vidyalaya, Principal of Narada Vidyalaya Mr. K. Kiritharan, Divisional Secretary Karaveddy Mr. Sivasri, teachers, parents and students of both schools were present on the occasion.
