Army Undertakes Reconstruction of Iyakkachchi Kaddaikadu Road

[2013-05-15 13:00:17]

Reconstruction of dilapidated Iyakkachchi Kaddaikadu road which caused many inconvenience to road users has now been undertaken by the Sri Lanka Army. Condition of the road turned from bad to worse when occasional rains washed its edges and granites away making it unmotorable.

The matter was brought to the notice of the Road Development Authority (RDA) which postponed it claiming that allocation of funds gets delayed. Later, on directives of the Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander 55 Division Brigadier Ajith Wijesinghe employed the soldiers of his Division and machineries provided by the 10 Field Engineer Regiment of Kankesanthurai and commenced reconstruction work on 10th May for the convenience of people who daily use this road

This 12 km long road running via Kovilvayal, Mulliyan and Kevil up to Kaddaikadu junction is mainly used by villagers for their day to day essential services and passenger and good transportation since it is the only route that links those villages to the A-9 road.
