Army’s Commitment towards Wellbeing of Civilians Appreciated

Community leaders and senior citizens in the 55 Division area appreciated the service extended by the Army towards the development of the area during their meeting with General Officer Commanding (GOC) 55 Division Brigadier Ajith Wijesinghe on Friday (07) at the Division Headquarters in Kaddaikadu.

The GOC described about humanitarian assistance so far given to the civilians in Jaffna by the Army and assured that it would continue irrespective negative comments of different interested parties. He explained the representatives about Army’s support being given to government development programmes in Jaffna. They discussed the areas where Army could extend further assistance for the wellbeing of civilians.

Commander 551 Brigade Colonel S.M.S.P.B. Samarakoon, Civil Affairs Officer of the 55 Division Lieutenant Colonel C.G.J.N. De Silva, Commanding Officer 18th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Major W.A.Y.K. Weerasinghe and Commanding Officer 12th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major H.M.A. Bandara participated in the meeting.
