Religious Performances of Periyapachchilaipallai Ganesh Temple to Resume

[2013-06-18 12:43:54]

People of Periyapachchilaipallai can now resume religious activities at their Ganesh Kovil and Bahirava Devala since soldiers of the 5th Sri Lanka Light Infantry (5 SLLI) cleared the jungle grown over and around the temple buildings.

Soldiers of 5 SLLI undergoing their annual training these days at Kaddaikadu contributed their labour willingly to this meritorious act taking a two days off from their training schedule on 6th and 7th June.

The temple site remained inaccessible for religious activities for years due to absence of civilians who had left the area during the period of war.

Rev. Thasathurai Kurukkal of the temple also participated in the Shramadana conducted with supervision of the Commander 553 Brigade Colonel S.P.V.S. Subasinghe.
