series of religious performances and military functions were organized
to mark the 17th anniversary of Security Forces Headquarters –
Jaffna (SFHQ-J) since the first week of June 2013. Officers and
other ranks serving under the SF-(J) attended religious rituals
at Maviddapuram Skandha Temple, Atchuvely St. Mary’s church, Jaffna
Jumma mosque and Palaly Bo maluva at SF – J Headquarters
the tri service and Police war heroes who paid supreme sacrifice
in their noble mission of safeguarding the sovereignty of the
motherland whilst serving under SF-J, Commander SF-J Major General
Mahinda Hathurusinghe and senior officers placed wreaths of flowers
at the foot of War Hero Monument in Palaly on Friday 21st morning.
was followed by a Guard of Honour accorded to the Commander SF-J
who later visited the Palaly Army Base Hospital to inquire about
health of soldiers undergoing medical treatment.
was liberated from the clutches of LTTE terrorists in the “Operation
Riviresa”, Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna was formed on
19th June 1996 at Palaly and it was the first Security Forces
Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army. Since then, this institute
has been serving the country as a prominent military establishment
which rendered a yeoman service since the first Eelam War up to
the Humanitarian Operation concluded in May 2009.
