A Workshop on 'Social Drama' Conducted at Headquarters Security Force Jaffna

[2017-06-13 13:14:00]

A workshop on 'Social Drama' was conducted by Mrs. Rathna Pushpa Kumari, Director Social Solutions (Mind and Behavior), for soldiers serving in Security Force Jaffna Area of Responsibility at the auditorium of Headquarters Security Force (J) from 08 June to 10 June 2017. The workshop was organized by Headquarters Security Force, Jaffna on the direction of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force, Jaffna in order to enhance the skills of soldiers on social drama and performance art.

After the workshop a street drama was performed by the participants of the workshop. This event was significant since this is the first ever opportunity that soldiers of SL Army joined hands with civilians and rehabilitated ex-LTTE members to stage a street drama known as 'Jaya Sri' created by them based on three social issues in the society. The theme of the drama will cater for the development of mental and emotional attitudes of ex-LTTE members, civilians and soldiers while enhancing harmony among them.

At the end of the workshop, all participants were awarded a certificate to encourage their participation. The certificate awarding ceremony was graced by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, the Commander Security Force, Jaffna as the Chief Guest. Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers from all under command units participated in the event on 10 June 2017 at the Auditorium of Headquarters Security Force, Jaffna.

The Commander SF (J), addressed the gathering appreciating the talents of the soldiers and rehabilitated ex-LTTE members. Further, the Commander SF (J) extended heartfelt gratitude to the members of Institute of Sinhala Culture for creating such an opportunity to our soldiers. In addition to that the Commander Security Force, Jaffna presented certificates and tokens of appreciation to Mrs. Rathna Pushpa Kumari and members of the Drama Board of Institute of Sinhala Culture.
