Pirith Chanting Train Arrives to Jaffna

As a part of Poson Festivals, Kavudunna Raja Maha Viharaya along with Bosath Foundation of Bujjomuwa Railway Station organized the Pirith Chanting Train Journey 'Uthura Dakuna Budun Dakina Poson Udanaya - 2019' form Beliatta to Kankesanthurei on 14 and 15 June 2019 in order to promote peace and reconciliation. The train with Pirth Chanting accompanied 50 Buddhist dignitaries and 700 devotees from all parts of the Island, and they were received by the Troops of Security Force - Jaffna at the Kankesanthurei Ralway Station at 0200 hours on 15 June 2019.

Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna organized a programme to distribute the donations brought by the devotees who came by train on the same day at the Thissa Viharaya Kankesanthurei. Accordingly, Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander Security Force - Jaffna took part at the programme to donate 300 ration packs to needy people, 50 gift packs worth of Rs.3000.00 each to pregnant mothers and stationery sets for deserving students.

The programme was conducted with the attendance of Religions Dignitaries, Military Personnel of Army, Navy and Air Force and Residents in Kankesanthurei.
