[Updated :: 2010-06-19 16:45:12 Hours]

To review how the normalcy had helped revive Jaffna and shed light on areas that need more attention in the aspect of administration, security, banking and education, an open discussion was arranged by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) on Friday (18.06.2010) at the Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office functioning under the Security Forces Headquarters (SF-J).

The programme named “Ethul Petta” discussed the subjects concerned in wider scope with participation of senior officials in respective areas.

At the outset, Ven. Meegahajandure Seelavimala Thero summarised the history of the Sri Naga Vihara and explained social services being carried out by the temple for the welfare of citizens and outsiders touring Jaffna on pilgrimage.

Brigadier B.C.J.A.F. Rodrigo, Brigadier General Staff SF-(J), educated the forum with statistics about resumption of farming, fishing and trade in Jaffna that gave minimal production due to terrorist activities in the recent past.

Assistant Project Director of the Jaffna District Secretariat Mr. S. Sudarshan, Additional Provincial Director of Education Mr. V.T. Selvaratnam, Assistant General Manager People’s Bank Mr. T.K. Anandarajah, Operational Manager Northern Province Bank of Ceylon Mr. Sivanandan and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Nevil Padmadeva from Jaffna DIG’s office attended the discussion.

The recorded programme will be broadcast by SLBC National channel on Saturday 26th June at 10.30 a.m.
